Rising 8th Grade Registration
Hello 7th Grade Walton families!
This page has been designed to support 7th grade students and their families with the 8th course registration process. Information regarding transition will be provided to students and families during January 2025. Rising 8th Grade Registration Letter
Transition Timeline
- December 2024: WMS counseling website is updated with transition information.
- January 6th - 31st: Parent Portal is open for students, families, and counselors to make initial course selections.
- January 27th-31st: Counselors visit PE classes to make initial course selections.
- February 3rd - 14th: Teachers make comments on Math selection.
- After February 3rd, 2025: Parents and students can view course requests and any future changes will be made through the counseling department.
- March 2025: Walton counselors will send out course requests to families.
- March 28th, 2025: Last day to make course request changes.
- Early August 2025 (date TBD): Student schedules made available to families.

- Language Arts- Language Arts 8
- Math- Three levels are available: Math 8, Algebra I (high school credit course), and Geometry (high school credit course).
- Science 8- Physical Science
- History- Civics and Economics
- Health/PE

*With the exception of some electives, all 8th grade courses are offered year-long, every other day starting in fall 2023.
Registering in Parent Portal
Students and families can register for classes in Student or Parent Portal during the defined time frame in January and February. Click here for instructions.
