Rising 7th Grade Registration
Hello 6th Grade Walton families!
This page has been designed to support 6th grade students and their families with the 7th course registration process. Information regarding transition will be provided to students and families in November. If you have questions as you navigate through this process, please contact your school counselor, Doug Bloor for students with last names A-L (dbloor@k12albemarle.org) or Makenzie Crawford for students with last names M-Z (mcrawford@k12albemarle.org).
Transition Timeline
- November 14, 2025: Course registration information is shared with 6th grade families.
- November 19, 2025: Virtual course registration meeting for all grade levels from 6:00-7:00. Link Coming.
- December 1, 2025: Course Planner opens in SchooLinks for students to select courses.

- December 1-5, 2025: Counselors visit 6th grade students in math classes to make initial course selections.
- January 7, 2026: Course Planner closes in SchooLinks closes for course registration.
- Changes after this date must be made by your school counselor.
- February 27, 2026: Course verification letters are sent to families.
- March 9-20, 2026: Teachers make comments on Math selection.
- April 3, 2026: Last day for course request changes.
- May 29, 2026: By this date, teachers will review SOL scores & student requests. Teachers will contact families if a change in placement is warranted.
- Early August 2026, Date TBD: Student schedules made available to families.
7th Grade Classes
Middle School Courses 2026-2027
- Language Arts- Language Arts 7, every day
- Math- Two levels are available:
- Math 7: Every day. Students can take Math 8 or Algebra I in 8th grade.
- Algebra I: High school credit course that is every other day. Compacted Math 6 or Algebra Bridge completion preferred.
- Science 7- Life Science, every other day
- History 7- United States History II 1865-Present, every other day
- Health/PE- Every other day
- Electives- Click here for the list of elective courses available in 7th grade.
- Note: Classes advertised may not run in 2026-2027 due to low student interest or staffing constraints.

Starting with an A day on the first day of school, our days rotate between A and B all year. If we miss a day due to weather, workday, etc., we simply pick up on the next scheduled day.
How to access your guardian SchooLinks account:
Your SchooLinks account has been created using the email address associated to your PowerSchool Public (Parent) Portal account. To log into the SchooLinks account that has been created for you, please follow these instructions:
- Visit app.schoolinks.com
- Sign-in using one of the options below:
- If the email you use for your PowerSchool Public (Parent) Portal account is a Google account, Click Log in with Google.
- For non-Google accounts, Click Forgot Password, enter the email you use for your PowerSchool Public (Parent) Portal account, then follow the email instructions to create a password.
If you do not have a PowerSchool Public (Parent) Portal account, please reach out to your student's school for information about creating one. SchooLinks accounts will be created overnight once your PowerSchool Public Portal account has been created.
